I have had multiple children attend/graduate from San Pasqual High School. It's a decent school for a basic public education and will cover the needs of the majority of students. I have been very disappointed with the counseling staff. You are more likely to receive attention and good advice if you are a struggling student. High achieving students are put on a back burner -- even when they repeatedly seek out assistance, they find it difficult to make an appointment, are given misinformation, and the staff has procrastinated (and missed) important college deadlines. Teachers are generally okay. Test scores are mediocre, but improving. There is a general apathy among the administrators, which I find unacceptable. Overall, the school will provide an education, but if you have a high-achieving student and have the means, consider a private school.

My daughter is now half way through her junior year at San Pasqual High School. I have to say that her experience at San Pasqual has been wonderful for her. She has had some wonderful teachers whom have shown some genuine interest in her academics and abilities to learning. My daughter has taken some very challenging classes at San Pasqual and I think that with her willing to learn and her teachers desire for her to succeed she is doing just that. I have to admit I am an alumni of San Pasqual and so my opinions are a little on the biased side, but I did have my concerns about this school because of my experiences. I have to say learning has always come easy for my daughter so San Pasqual has been good for her, the real challenge will come when my son starts there in a couple of years.

It is important for parents to get information on the school and what is expected when your freshman starts high school. San Pasqual does that in the summer when signing up and during the middle of the school year when the counselors hold an informational meeting on requirements and resources for freshmen and freshman parents. I was impressed that they came to us with new information. The parents did not have to seek them out.
