While size limits the number of electives and foreign languages available, it enhances the involvement of teachers and parents. Our kids can play on any sport team, be part of yearbook, leadership etc. Hug High School in Reno has broken their 1200 student population down to 4 schools to emulate this small school model. Every year our seniors are accepted in top schools. Every year our parent driven support clubs (Boosters, Fan Club, VIPS) raise more than $50,000 (sometimes way more) to support great programs, in addition to the money we get from Measure A. With a brand new theater, new classroom wings with state of the art technology, teacher driven trips each year abroad, a fairly young teacher population as well as staff, I think this high school is on an upward spiral. Ride the wave folks! I have 2 students there, both on their way to college.

I graduated from NTHS last year and am now at San Diego State. I feel way more prepared most of the other students in my classes. I can also still contact my NT teachers for help. I am especially ahead of the game in Anatomy and English. I feel lucky to have gone to NT and to have had the opportunity to have so much teacher support and such close friendships with my classmates. NT is a great school for students who are willing to work!

I recently graduated from North Tahoe and am now attending UCLA. Although North Tahoe does not have as many academic options as a larger, more highly funded school does, North Tahoe is a wonderful high school that offers so much opportunity to grow if one takes advantage of it. The teachers at North Tahoe truly care about their students and because of the small student population, students have the opportunity to become very close with the teachers and staff. I am now doing very well at UCLA and I would not have wanted to spend my high school years anywhere else.

No matter what other people say, NTHS is not a bad school. It someone says it is it usually means their children weren't trying hard enough and it's their own fault. Yes there is a lack in diversity of classes but one can make it very far if one tries. The teachers of the harder classes are excellent. There are just a few bad teachers that need to be avoided.
