This is an excellent school that has the students best interest in mind in preparing them for the future.
The leadership of this school and district has tumbled! It's time that Mr. Orwig is brought back to the high school - he cares for the students, faculty and community as a whole!
Well as a 2005 Graduate from Blue Mountain, I have to say I had an amazing experience. I was fortunate enough to establish great friends and receive a pretty decent education. In my third year of college, I am doing well and feel it was because I was well prepared. Mr Orwig was amazing.
As a 2007 graduate of this school, I can say that I'm glad to be out. This school has a rigid, old-fashioned mindset where teachers think that lecturing and objective tests are the 'real education'. Dr. Knauer, the principal, was the only one who actually listens to kids and tries to make their education current and interesting. Unfortunately, she gets a lot of grief from the older teachers who don't want to change anything and who don't particularly like kids. She could have really made Blue Mountain a great school, but there are too many people who are only interested in themselves. She hired some great teachers, but now she left to go on to bigger things. Good for her. Bad for Blue Mountain.
