Well, it will be excellent, starting in 2009. The school has voted to remove Imagine Schools as its managing company and will be self-managed from now on. They are implementing a science, technology, engineering, and math emphasis in all aspects of the school -- like using more computers in the classroom, and having more hands-on science instruction. Art, music, PE all will be improved, too, and a certified gifted program. Great things are happening at the school.

I have two children at this school. We have been pleased with it but not thrilled with it in the past. There have been too many issues with the management company but that is finally being resolved. The school will be parting ways with the management company, Imagine Schools, in favor of being an independent school (run more like a private school). In addition they are moving towards becoming a Science, Technology and Math school which I think will be terrific for the kids! I'm very excited about the changes in the works. Principal turnover has been too high but in the case of replacing the principal this summer, I think that is a very good thing. She may have been good on paper but in reality, I was disappointed with her lack of professionalism on more than one occasion. The teachers are terrific. They go above and beyond!

My son just completed 1st grade at this school. We were very happy with his teacher, as well as the curriculum. This was our first year at the school, and there have been issues with the charter renewal. They got approval for a one year renewal through the end of the 2009/2010 school year. The new charter for a 5 year renewal is about to be submitted for approval. A lot of changes are being made to the school. As a working mom, it's hard for me to make weekday night meetings, and I read all the emails and other communications, but I still feel a bit out of the loop. I am hoping we will continue to have a positive experience with this school.

I have 3 at KCS (4th, 3,2 all started in K) Teachers are awesome, leadership is not so good. Public school was not an option...so what choices did I have.... Homeschool, Private or Charter. I gave KCS a try. KCS had a learning curve just like anything just starting out.... but over time things did not get better, they got worse. Car Pool .. horrendous! After 5 years they still can't get it any better. One suggestion.... extend the time by 10 minutes! My children have always scored in the 99th % in the nation on their testing, but KCS has done nothing to enrich their love for learning... they did start a gifted program this year... but it follows Cobb Co. Standards...if I wanted those standards I would send them to a Cobb Co. School. I have decided to homeschool. I wish KCS would be more independent and not cave
