This school is one of the finest community based schools in Colorado Springs. The focus on the whole child and on allowing kids to be kids is apparent in almost every lesson, activity and event. A caring staff, with a mix of veteran and newer teachers, have helped to make this a special palce for my children. The unique setting invites exploration and learning in ways that are different from the sterile and modern feel of most schools today.
I believe that this is an excellent school. The teachers have skills that they pass down to the students. I do, however, feel that many of the students are getting into a bad habit of joining clubs or activities and not showing up to the practices or meetings. They should not be allowed to participate in the activities if they do not have consistent attendance.
This school seeks to serve the whole child in cooperation with the parents and community. Although they have high academic standards, the faculty celebrate the value of the child as a person,part of a community, not just a statistic.
