My daughter attended Charlestowne Academy for the first time this year 2007-2008. She was on the 1st grade honor roll the entire year and homework was given to her 95% of the time. During the pact test, I volunteered in the 3rd class and saw the same great teaching skills that was shown to me via my daughter's first grade teachers. To me Charlestowne Academy is the perfect school to send your child to if he/she wants to be challeged and attend a good college. The curriculum is great; hopefully all the kids who don't know who to act in class will not return. I will recommend this school to any parent that greatly cares about thier child education.
I have to agree with the parent that submitted the previous review. They ring your phone off the hook when they want you to leave your job to come discipline your children, but they'll allow assignments to pile up for weeks and weeks at a time and the next thing you know you have to help child catch up umpteen assignments by a certain date. Like, how do you allow your students to go slacking in schoolwork like that and when the parents ask how the kids are doing, everything is fine. Ridiculous! Our son had been attending there since kindergarten. He's in the 3rd grade now and my fiance and I finally had the good sense to remove our son from the school. He's at Stono now and it's a thousand times better.
I am not satisfied with my child's school. The teachers seem more concern with disciplining the students rather than helping them learn. I would not recommend this school to any parent. If your child is planning to attend College, this is not the school to attend.

My daughter attended 7th-8th grade, my son attends and is currently in the 4th grade. Great environment, although there are few sports programs (we participate in sports through the recreation department). The quality of the academic programs is excellent, and I feel like the teachers truly care. The environment is friendly and family orientated.I may not continue once my son gets to high school because of the lack of extracurriculars, but for elementary and middle school I am very satisfied.
