I attend this school currently. I feel like I am learning more in a quarter than average student yearly. High academic achievement at this school are very high stressed. The student body who chose to go in the A.P. path at this school never go to bed earlier than midnight on school days. Basically, this prepares you for the world of college. Yet, one regard to going here is the lack of spirit among the students. Every student doesn't enjoy their experience to the fullest. There is one assembly a year, no field trips, dances are extremely empty, and no sport-related activities what so ever. Stress level is very high...many students do not get enough sleep (less than 5 hours a day) so they end up cranky and cramming everything in a 'tank full of gas'. Overall, this school needs a major make over to lower stress of the students.
Advanced Technologies Academy is one of the nicest schools in the Las Vegas area. Students actually get an opportunity to learn, the facility is clean, and nearly every room has computers.
Originally written 8/25/07 I would agree from personal experience that Advanced Technologies Academy (A-TECH) is the top high school here in Las Vegas. After much research our daughter chose A-TECH, tested and was admitted. She was able to take the standard six subjects at Honors and AP level plus an additional two subject major: Computer Science. Eight subjects in all. Through A-TECH's program she was able to graduate with an Honors Degree which included an additional eight credits in Computer Science. She was accepted at all of the colleges she applied to including Wellesley, Stanford and MIT. She chose MIT and is currently a Freshman there.
Advanced Technologies Academy is academically challenging, safe, clean but it also is a very High Stress enviroment! Dances, Senior trips cancel for no attendance. You miss out on so much and your teachers keep you so busy with homework your lucky to catch a movie with a friend on the weekends. If your ready to give up everything to come here then this is the place for you.
