My son was emotionally distraught over our separation and then divorce in his kindergarten year. During that year I discussed with his teacher Ms. Chang and the principal Ms. Olsen. During this time we were offered extra help and he attended basically an all day kindergarten when there wasn't such a thing. In first grade we noticed that he wasn't up to grade level (very early) and through both the teacher and principal's support we were referred to counseling that the school helped pay for and referred us to a great counselor. During his difficult days Ms. Olson was very proactive in finding a solution not just kicking him out of school. We love Jefferson because Ms. Olson and her staff are proactive and not reactive and assist the parents with their children's education.

No services available for gifted children. Class sizes are much larger than stated here. Emphasis is not on academics, but on teaching to the WASL and nitpicking/targeting students.

Both of my children went to Jefferson. It was a safe and happy environment where they thrived. I found the teachers to be concerned and proactive when it came to my children's education. The principal was warm, friendly and approachable and knew both my children by name. When an issue of concern would come up the principal made sure that the problem was taken care of right away. I met most of the parent's that I know in the community due to their involvement at the school. The academic standdards at Jefferson were high. But the teachers did their best to teach the kids that they are there to help and to help not overwhelm them. It was a wonderful experience for my children and I would highly reccomend Jefferson.
