Whoever said the Iowa test scores were in the 50's are very wrong. They have some of the highest test scores in the county- that is why we chose this district to build in. We love the school and love the teachers and the administration. Some of the curriculum that is not challenging is more a district thing, but Friendship does well implementing it and beefing it up some.

I am very surprised at the comment about Friendship not offering many extra curricular opportunities for students. The after school activities that I am aware of are: Chorus, Art Club, Book Club, Chess Club, Junior Beta Club, and Odyssey of the Mind. You may not have the technology that a larger school system can offer, but I have found that the benefits of a smaller school far outweigh a larger school. The teachers are great!

Our family loves Friendship. My daughter's kindergarten teacher was wonderful. We were always kept informed of activities and information we needed to know. Her 1st grade teacher so far has been great. She keeps us informed as well. The bottom line is the they are teaching our children to have a passion for learning. It shows in the test scores. My child loves school and that says something. There has been several comments about Mr. Walton. As far as I am concerned he is doing an excellent job there. His job is to be a leader and a role model for the children. If you look at the teachers and how great they are then you know he is doing a wonderful job.

This school offers few extra opportunities for the students and the teaching methods and level of education is well below what we have experienced in other schools. In our experience they are about 6mo to 1 yr behind. Also, they spend one month preparing to pass the basic skills test rather than concentrating on the skills needed to succeed through out the year. Communication is poor between the school and parents. The Average Iowa Test Scores are in the 50s.
