Two of my children attended Fannin Elementary 1996-2006. I was very pleased with the education that they received while attending Fannin. Their teachers were very good at communicating with me and answering any questions that I asked. They were very prepared for middle school and both are taking PreAP and AP classes. The level of committment by other parents was the only concern that I had. Some children are aware that they can only be disciplined to a certain degree and take advantage of the system. Parents would tell me that as long as the child was at school then it was the schools responsibility to discipline the child and they wanted no part of it. The principal was supportive of the PTA and took the time to listen to parents. What you as a responsible parent are willing to invest into your childs education is what you will receive.

Not all teachers hired are highly qualified. I am outraged that they hire teachers that do not speak English to teach bilingual classes.

I agree. It is disappointing how discipline and incentives are handled at Fannin. The principal is not supportive of teachers. He allows and encourages students to be disrespectful to adults and other students. It is also very disappointing the principal took away recess from TAKS grades- 3-5th.

I will have to give Fannin a poor rating. There is little communication between teachers, staff and parents. Discipline is handled poorly as well as good behavior recognition. Music, Art and PE are avaliable but once a week only. Recces is no longer avaliable to children in 3rd, 4th and 5th grades as they feel rather than getting extra excersice, they want the kids to do more learning labs. This causes the children to be frustrated and to energetic and leads to discipline problems that are sometimes out of control.
