In the School District of Philadelphia, you may attend your neighborhood school or through the Voluntary Transfer program, you may apply to attend special admission, city-wide admission and other neighborhood schools within the district. Students may also attend charter schools. The district accepts applications for voluntary transfers, beginning the third Monday in September and running through the last Friday in October, for admission the following school year.Under the federal No Child Left Behind law, students attending a Title I school designated as "in need of improvement" have the right to attend a higher-performing school in the district.
