- In 2007-2008 Tennessee used the Gateway/End-of-Course (EOC) exams to test high school students in language arts, math, science and social studies upon completion of relevant courses.
- The results for algebra I and English 2 are displayed on GreatSchool profiles. The scores reflect the performance of students enrolled for the full academic year.
- Students must pass the algebra I, English 2 and biology I tests, called the Gateway exams, in order to graduate.

- The ACT is a national college admission and placement examination.
- ACT scores range from a low of 1 to a high of 36. The composite score is an average of the English, math, reading and science scores.
- Results displayed are for graduating seniors regardless of when the ACT was taken.
