  • In 2008-2009 Indiana used the Indiana Statewide Testing for Educational Progress-Plus (ISTEP+) assessment to test students in grades 3 through 8 and 10 in English/language arts and math, and in grades 5 and 7 in science.
  • The ISTEP+ is a standards-based test, which means it measures specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Indiana.
  • The different student groups are identified by the Indiana Department of Education. If there are fewer than 10 students in a particular group in a school, data is not reported for that group.
  • High school students are required to pass the grade 10 ISTEP+ to receive a high school diploma.
  • The goal is for all students to score at the passing level on the test.
