About the Tests

  • In 2007-2008 Georgia administered the Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests (CRCT) in reading, English language arts and math in grades 1 through 8, in science in grades 3 through 8, and in social studies in grades 3 through 5 and 8.
  • The CRCT is a standards-based assessment, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Georgia.
  • The different student groups are identified by the Georgia Department of Education. If there are fewer than 10 students in a particular group in a school, the state doesn't report data for that group.
  • The goal is for all students to score at or above the state standard.
