Know your school choice options in Kentucky.
In the Jefferson County Public School District (JCPS), you have the option to attend the school near where you live, called the “resides school.” There are six elementary school clusters, each with 10 to 12 schools. You also have the option to attend another school in your cluster. For high school, students may attend any high school in the district. In addition, at all levels there are magnet schools that provide a specialized learning environment or focus on a specific academic area.Under the federal No Child Left Behind law, students attending a Title I school designated as "in need of improvement" have the right to attend a higher-performing school in the district.
