In the Wichita Public Schools District (WPS), students can attend their neighborhood schools or magnet schools that offer more specialized instruction; magnet applications are due in February and March. Middle- and high schoolers can participate in special programs that offer college prep and the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum. The district has alternative schools for at-risk students.Under the federal No Child Left Behind law, students attending a Title I school designated as “in need of improvement” have the right to attend a higher-performing school in the district.
