The Osceola County School District has an open enrollment policy, which means if your child attends a low-performing school in the district, you have the right to use an Opportunity Scholarship to attend a higher-performing school, including public schools and private schools (called intradistrict choice), so long as there is space. Charter schools are another option and applications for these schools are due in early August. Out-of-district students can request transfers to Osceola schools. High schoolers can participate in the Advanced Placement Scholars Program and take college prep courses. The district has alternative programs for at-risk students. Students with special needs may be eligible to receive a McKay Scholarship to attend a private school.Under the federal No Child Left Behind law, students attending a Title I school designated as “in need of improvement” have the right to attend a higher-performing school in the district.
