| Teacher Experience |
|
This shows the average years of teaching experience and the percentage of beginning teachers as reported by the state. Although experience alone is not an indicator of teacher effectiveness, schools with a low average years of teacher experience or a high percentage of beginning teachers may face difficulties. This is because teachers with limited experience may be less skilled at managing the challenges of classroom instruction. Conversely, high average years of experience or a low percentage of first-year teachers may point toward a lack of fresh ideas and innovative teaching methods at a school. In general, the most effective schools have a combination of experienced and new teachers, and create opportunities for all teachers to learn from each other. Source: TX Education Agency, 2006-2007 |
