| Average Class Size |
|
This shows the average class size for kindergarten, grades 1, 3, 6 and 8, and high school as of the first school day in May,
as reported by the state. The average class size for the high school level is determined by adding the total number of
students in classes given in second and fifth period, and dividing by the number of classes. In general, a low average class
size indicates that teachers are able to spend more time with individual students, which in turn can lead to increased student
achievement, particularly for disadvantaged students in the early grades.
To compare schools, GreatSchools.net uses grade 3 class size for elementary schools, grade 8 class size for middle schools and the high school class size for high schools. Source: IL State Board of Education, 2006-2007
