In the Cherry Creek School District, students can attend their neighborhood schools or choose other district schools (called intradistrict choice), as long as there is space; open enrollment applications are due in early February. Out-of-district students are admitted to Cherry Creek schools only if space is available; nonresident applications are due in early August. The district has an arts-focused elementary school, a K-8 magnet school, alternative schools for at-risk students, and a transition program for special needs student. It also provides special education services.Under the federal No Child Left Behind law, students attending a Title I school designated as “in need of improvement” have the right to attend a higher-performing school in the district.
