| Activities and Sports |
- Clubs and extra-curricular activities include: "Green Team" > after-school enrichment program for K-4 that teaches students gardening and horticulture, then allows them to participate in hands-on activities by practicing their learned skills; "Sign Language Club" > after-school enrichment program for Gr. 2-4 that teachers basic sign language; "Latin Club" > after-school enrichment program for Gr. 3 & 4 students in Challenge, which teaches students the Latin language. Students take an end-of-course national exam; "Opera Team" > after-school enrichment program for Gr. 3 & 4. This gives students an opportunity to study the components of a specific opera. The students attend a performance of that Opera near the end; Tutorials > available to students in Gr. 2 - 4 that are in need of enrichment or extra assistance. This takes place after school, usually beginning in February and "Mustang Musicians" > available to students in Gr. 3 & 4 after school. Students can participate in either chorus, chimes, pipes, or dynamic drummers (drumline/dance performance team).

- Even though we have the largest enrollment of all SISD elementary campuses, we have a family atmosphere in which we strive to build relationships with all students. We focus on helping students reach individual success. We always welcome parent and community volunteers to assist us in our mission of educating students for the future.

- Recent or upcoming renovations: The main foyer to the building/office will be renovated in the summer of 2008 to accommodate more safety/security measures. This will ensure that anyone visiting the campus will have been checked into the office before entering the building.
- Gymnasium and physical education facilities: We have a full-size gymnasium in which we have a full-time PE teacher as well as a full-time PE teacher assistant.
- Library facilities: Wakefield houses a large library in the main school building. It is maintained by a full-time library assistant. All students have access to the library and the library is well-stocked with AR leveled books for students to excel in Reading.
