School Mission
  • The mission of Fort Craig is to provide, in cooperation with parents and the community, an enriched environment that empowers children to become lifelong learners and responsible citizens.

Curriculum

Parent and Community Support
  • All parents are encourage to give a minimum of 9 volunteer hours annually. Volunteers are used for general school care (painting), grounds keeping, first aid room, listening to students read, guest speakers, fund raising committees, adopt-a-school program, etc.

  • We are a brain-compatible school always trying to improve student learning using the latest research on "how we learn". We are multiage classrooms (for B-1-2 and 3-4). We have enriched environments which have an "at home" feeling. We teach LIFESKILLS and LifeLong Guidelines. Our Life goal: Treat people right.....do the right thing.

Technology and Facilities

  • Recent or upcoming renovations: We have just completed our Compass House. It is a large gathering place (holds an entire grade level) for guest speakers and special presentations. This brick structure is attached to the north end of our building and was made possible from generous gifts and donations and use of some school monies raised through parent support activities.
  • Gymnasium and physical education facilities: Our building is over 50 years old and so is the gym, but it has been well maintained. It has a stage at one end. There are no bleachers. The walls have been painted by a volunteer parent showing children playing various games/activities along a park trail.
  • Library facilities: We have a wonderful library filled with hundreds of books for the students at our school. Various storybook characters have been painted on the walls. It is a cozy place with a large compass shaped rug on which the students can relax as they listen to a story read by our media specialist.
 
 
Admissions and Enrollment
  • Entering students typically come from: Most students enter as kindergarteners and Students MUST be a resident of Maryville City.
  • Graduates typically go to: Maryville Intermediate (grades 5-6); Maryville Middle (grades 7-8) and Maryville High School (grades 9-12).
  • Students at this school are chosen by a lottery system.
  • Students also enroll by: Kindergarten students are generally admitted through a lottery.
  • Few of the students at this school come from the neighborhood where the school is located.
