No rating given (June 2009) "My daughter will be graduating from Hamilton High this month. She is a student in the Music Academy magnet, one of two magnet centers on the campus. There are some wonderful teachers here and a strong English dept. There are also a few teachers who should no doubt be doing something other than teaching. The principal is slowly building his capacity but has the support of the faculty if not yet the greater community (this is a tough job and he is working hard at it). The parent center is too small to accommodate classes but is a reference and resource center although is rarely open when convenient to parents. Improvements have been noted over the last year in the way the school's shared decision making and advisory bodies operate but more training of staff and parents TOGETHER is needed to build trust and respect."
(March 2009) "Hamilton High School is a huge disappointment. Very few of the teachers will work with you and your child while most of them refuse. I have sent emails, calls to teachers, and gone into the main office and still no response from the teachers. I am VERY upset at the principal. I have tried on multiple occations to get in touch with the principal, actually ALL YEAR, through phone calls, emails and going into the main office to talk with him, and he never calls me back, or he is in a 'meeting' or just plain unavailable. It has been a very frustrating year, and the problems with the principal have driven me to the point of pulling my daughter out of there with only 2 months left till her graduation. I will be pulling my son out of there also. I hate this school! Don't send your child here...."
(February 2009) "I currently go to this school. This school is great! There are great teachers! I give props on Ms.Kraemer she is a amazing science teacher. but overall its a 5 star!"
(March 2008) "Hamilton is really what you make of it. There are brilliant teachers, and there are those who either fail to connect with students over the subject matter, who are simply incompetent, or who are a wholly unfortunate combination of both. The student must be able to discern who the best teachers are, and to seek them out. While at Hamilton, I thought that the education I received was quite good because I took the most difficult classes with the best teachers, but at the university level, I've come to understand the shortcomings of an education from an oversized public school. Minimal resources in the foreign language programs, poor math and science instruction, and overworked or incompetent counselors combine with other factors to make the Hamilton experience less than stellar."
(February 2008) "Hamilton could be a great school, but they now have a environment of clicks, such as the birds. This group of children has caused Hamilton to have issues with violence and discipline. Many of the teachers will work with you and your child while other refuse. I have sent emails, calls to teachers, and letters in their mailbox at the main office and still no response from several teachers"
