School Mission
  • The mission of Baton Rouge Center For Visual and Performing Arts is to provide a wholesome, supportive, educational environment that will be conducive to maximum growth and development - academically, creatively, culturally, emotionally, socially, and physically - for every student. The various art disciplines will collectively provide a vehicle for enhanced academic learning by making connections through the integration and reinforcement of academic concepts and skills. The infusion of the arts throughout the curriculum will enhance the quality of aesthetic education. The arts disciplines - music, visual art, drama, dance and creative writing will allow each child to identify and hone his/her talents. The art-focused curriculum will integrate all aspects of learning - cognitive, psychomotor and affective - in developing the whole child.

Curriculum
  • Special education programs designed specifically for students with language or speech impairment.
  • Physical education is required for the following grades: K, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
 
 
Instructional Program Highlights
  • The academic curriculum is enhanced through the sequential arts program by reinforcing academic skills and concepts.
  • Students receive instruction in the arts disciplines from specialists - music, visual art, drama, dance and creative writing - in a daily one hour arts block.
  • Participation is encouraged in the various performance groups such as Band, Orchestra, Choir, Drama Club, Dance Troupe, Art Club, WBRC Television Studio, Recorder and Percussion Ensemble, and more.
  • Students who qualify receive "Talented" instruction in Art, Music or Drama.
