Dress code Uniforms required: GVCS students wear navy blue pants, shorts, skirts, or jumpers, Elderwear brand, purchased from Campus Uniforms for sale on campus or at the store in Torrance. Knit polo shirts, of any solid color, must be tucked in, with a belt. Cost is approximately $22 for navy blue wear; polo shirts can be purchased anywhere.

Instructional Program Highlights
  • GVCS focuses on foundational skills, research skills, developing resposiblity, and preparing students for advanced placement in high school and university.
  • Two research-based co-curriculars are added for every student: music and technology instruction.
  • 6th-8th grades are departmentalized with specialists in each academic field, as well as fine arts and technology.
  • A full athletic program with inter-league sports is available for 4th-8th grade students, as well as dance, tennis, and swimming.

Parent and Community Support
  • GVCS has an active Parent-Teacher Fellowship that sponsors two fund raisers per year, the profits of which go, per their vote, to enhance student education with extra equipment, etc. They provide an end-of-the-year carnival for students, and other events for the school comunity. The community-at-large is invited to the Harvest Festival each year. GVCS students and parents serve the City Council occasionally as requested. Parents also volunteer to help at district ACSI spelling bees, speech meets, and math olympics.

  • Gymnasium and physical education facilities: We have no gym; however, outside courts for basketball, volleyball, softball, and kickball, as well as a fenced playground, and a swimming pool are enjoyed by students each day.
  • Library facilities: The GVCS library boasts a wonderful librarian to assist students with research needs and pleasure reading searches, 8,000+ volumes, and three dedicated computers which are supervised. The GVCS library hosts two book fairs and a Christmas shop each year.
