Instructional Program Highlights
- All grades K-5 students participate in the "Success For All" reading program, which has markedly improved schoolwide reading scores.
- All classrooms are wired for Internet access and equipped with several computer. Studetns regularly use computers to publish their monthly writing assignments.
- The school has a strong math program. Our math scores have also sown significant improvement year after year.
- All core subjects are taught in every classroom.

Parent and Community Support
- Parents are elected to serve on our SSC/ELAC, help write the site plan and volunteer in various aspects of our school program. They are invited to attend workshops and meetings which are conducted trilingually. Parents are encouraged to volunteer in classrooms, on field trips, and share careers, talents, and cultural heritages.

- Garfield is a four-time recipient of the California Academic Achievement Award, and an Award for Excellence from theCalifornia Business Council. We have shown improvement in student achievement for seven consecutive years. Our clean and safe environment that is highly conducive to learning. Our students are always meaningfully engaged in learning activities throughout the school day.
