Parent and Community Support
- The district (4 schools) receives support from the Schools Foundation of $1000000. In addition, Valentine's own extremely active PTA adds at least another $250000 annually to provide programs like the science, art and computer labs.
The school's SIP Council (school improvment program) provides guidance in defining annuals improvment goals and resources. The council is composed of equal numbers of parents and educators.
Being a public school, the district's overall direction and policies are a function of the School District Trustees, elected by the community.
Other news or notes
- Valentine Elementary School exists in a small suburban community on the edge of a sprawling metropolis - LA. The school's atmosphere and the community in which it exists is more mid-western small town. SMUSD's schools are a major focus of the community at large and enjoy high regard from the citizens. The schools all have a very close family feel - culturally diverse as that family may be - of which we are very proud. Children are the "heart" of Valentine School.
