Bright Ideas From our Readers: Holiday Projects
Thanks to our many readers who shared their ideas for holiday projects and gifts to create with their kids during winter break.
Holiday Projects
A mom in Arizona writes: "We each make a gingerbread house every year and work together on holiday baking and candy making. The baking projects are more difficult than when the kids were little but my boys (14 and 16 years old) can't wait every year."
Gifts to Make Together
One reader sent this creative idea for a hand-made ornament: "I get an outline of a Santa or an ornament, take pictures of the child and have their picture in the middle so the parents can hang them on the tree. I have done it before and the kids as well as the parents all love them and it is also a memory for their child for the grade that they were once in."
Here are two clever gift projects from an Idaho mom: "My son and I did a cute gift bag for his teacher this year. He is in kindergarten. We bought a whisk, Hershey kisses, snowman snack bags, mini-marshmallows, and he made a card for his teacher. We put the kisses in the whisk and tied a tag around it in ribbon saying 'Whisking You a Merry Kissmas!' The snowman snack bag we put the mini- marshmallows in it and taped the little funny to it, 'You've been naughty, so here's the scoop. All you get for Christmas is snowman poop!' We put all the stuff in a decorated paper bag. My son said, 'When I handed her the bag she opened it up and smiled so big!'"
