In Alaska your child has the option to attend any school in the district (called intradistrict choice), but preference is given to low-income students in low-performing schools to choose a better school in their district. Students can also attend charter schools.
Under the federal No Child Left Behind law, students attending a Title I school designated as “in need of improvement” have the right to attend a higher performing school in the district.
