Mobile County School District

Know your school choice options in the Mobile County Public Schools System.

In the Mobile County Public Schools System (MCPSS), students are assigned to schools based on their residence, but they may be able to transfer to other schools if there is a change in guardianship. Nonresident students can apply to attend MCPSS schools but must pay a fee of $1,200. The district has magnet schools that focus on such subjects as the performing arts, math, science and law; applications are due in February. It also provides career/technical education programs for agriscience and technology, business and marketing, health science and other areas.

Under the federal No Child Left Behind law, students attending a Title I school designated as “in need of improvement” have the right to attend a higher-performing school in the district.
